Sir Trevor ploughed the lonely furrow as the first black face on British television news.

He reported for ITN and then presented News at Ten from 1992 for many years. He was knighted in 1999 and awarded a BAFTA fellowship in 2011. In recent years he has presented documentaries on ITV and has become a British national treasure.

Clive Myrie has followed in his path. He presents the Network news on the BBC and on the News Channel after a distinguished career as a reporter. His boyhood hero and role model in Bolton was Sir Trevor. Clive was born of Jamaican parents,
