One of only two Caribbean writers to have won a Nobel Prize, VS Naipaul was nothing if not controversial on a wide range of issues.

He wrote of his native Trinidad, Islam, the African Condition and especially other writers. His recent death has brought out the good and the bad of his legacy.

Farrukh Dhondy, the writer and former Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, defends his close friend to the hilt, in conversation with another speaker TBC.

Was VS Naipaul 'the ogre' a media confection or just a brilliant and misguided writer? Come and hear this active debate.
